Full Size Futon Mattress – Best Mattress Sizes To
Buy
A full size futon mattress can say a lot about your home. Is your bed still inviting? Do your guests prefer
standing when you offer them the couch? If the mattress is already worn out, let it go. You should purchase a
new one – for your own sake.
Nowadays, you can buy futon mattresses separately from the futon frames. But you shouldn’t just buy any
mattress. Quality may be important. But what matters most is the size. The mattress should perfectly fit your couch
frame or bed platform. An oversized or undersized mattress looks lousy. Not only that – it can also become
uncomfortable after a while.

To change the futon mattress, you should at least know the correct sizes. The mattress sizes may vary in each
continent. There are slight differences between the American, U.H., E.U. or Continental, and Asian standards.
However, they do have common terms for each category. A twin futon mattress, otherwise known as the single-size,
measures approximately 39 * 75 inches or 99 * 191 cm. On the other hand, a full-size mattress covers an area of 54
* 75 inches or 137 * 191 cm. It is also called the double-size. The queen size futon is another commonly used
measure. This one spans about 60 * 80 inches or 152 * 203 cm.
The queen futon may sound seductive. But it’s also impractical. Your sleep won’t improve with the extra width.
You can sleep like a baby with any mattress as long as it is comfortable. That said, a full size futon mattress is
a better choice for many reasons. First, it’s big enough to enjoy alone. Secondly, it’s spacious enough to share
with your partner. Lastly, most, if not all, futon sofa beds or couches are designed to use full size
mattresses.
Is there a correct thickness for futon mattresses? Well, your options range from 6 inches up to 18 inches.
However, thicker doesn’t automatically translate to better. A 10-inch mattress is actually ideal. It’s thin
enough to fold in the middle for a futon couch. And it’s thick enough to entice you to sleep.
Note, though, that some mattresses shrink through time and use. This is especially true with mattresses that are
filled with foam. If available, go for those with natural fillings – like beans, cotton, or down feathers (if you
can afford them). You’ll understand the difference once you try any of them.
Do you own an old but still usable full size bed mattress? You can buy a new or used bed platform or couch
frame. It doesn’t matter if it’s made of wood or metal. Just wrap the mattress with a nice futon cover made of
polyester fabric, and throw in some accessories like pillows and cushions. Then test it out with some fellow
loungers!
People say that home is where the heart is. So put your heart into it! Make your living room and bedroom the
only place your love ones will ever want to stay in. Don’t settle for anything less than a full size futon
mattress.
